Relaxing at Pether Cottage is easy with the benefits and facilities of the ski lodge, golf course and country club and general store within a 10-minute walk. It makes it your ideal Talbingo short stay rental accommodation. You can sit and watch the birds and kangaroos as well as other native wildlife at dawn and dusk around Talbingo. We now have internet and WiFi along with Foxtel.

NB. Mount Selwyn Snow Resort burnt down during the fires of January 2020. So it won’t be operational during winter of 2020. So stays more suitable to families that just want to do their own snow play, snow ball fights and building Olaf (snowman). Don’t forget to bring the carrot. Yarrongobilly Caves is great place to go to limestone caves and swim in 27 degree water even when it is snowing. Makes great photo.

Local Facilities: Nearby we have a great dining option at the Talbingo Country Club (500 m walk). There is also a supermarket (500 m walk) where you can buy everything you need for your stay. Supermarkets and shops at Tumut are only 45 km drive (30 minutes).

Talbingo offers a lot for visitors apart from the snow regions. There is fishing and water sports, swimming, golf, tennis and bush walking tracks as well as 4WD tracks through Kosciusko National Park and Bargo State Forest (there are maps provided at the property). If you feel like kicking back and relaxing with a round of golf, the Talbingo Country Club has a 9-hole course.

Snowy Mountain Scheme – Talbingo is at the centre of the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme – one of the great engineering feats in the world, and the Tumut 3 Power Station which is the largest power station in the Snowy Mountains Scheme and the largest hydro-electric power station in Australia.

History- The town is the birthplace of award winning author Miles Franklin. Ken Warby currently holds the water speed record for motorboat racing on Blowering Dam. If you’re in the mood for sightseeing, Talbingo is an easy drive from many of our popular tourist attractions.

Selwyn Snowfields – The Selwyn Snowfields are just under an hour’s drive through national park. This is the premier learn to ski and family snow recreation area in NSW. Located in the beautiful Kosciusko National Park, you will love learning how to ski, snowboard, snow tube or toboggan. Snow gear can be hired at Talbingo goPLAYoutside. Yarrangobilly Caves – On your way, make sure you visit Yarrangobilly Caves, one of the most wonderful limestone cave systems in Australia. You can either take a self-guided tour through the South Glory Cave. Or join a guided tour of the Jersey Cave or Jillabenan Cave. There are a number of other bush walks at Yarrangobilly Caves. They include the Thermal Pool Walk where you’ll find a natural spring permanently heated to 27 degrees. This is an amazing experience in winter where you can laze back in the warm water. While snow is blanketing the ground around you. The whole Yarrangobilly area is a haven for photographers and artists. So make sure you check out the River Walk and the Bluff Lookout as well as the caves.

Buddong Falls – Another favourite is the Buddong Falls. Just a 50 km drive away, crossing the Blowering Reserve and through the Buddong State Forest. Alternatively, you can follow the Blowering Reserve into Tumut and then back down in the Buddong State Forest. Here you’ll find an easy 400 metre return walk from the picnic area to the top falls. There is a steeper 1.6 km return walk to the bottom falls.

Talbingo Accommodation to Enjoy Nature 

Great place to get back to nature and enjoy Australia’s largest National Park: Kosciusko National Park. So much to explore and do.

Bush Walks – For longer walks, there is the Hume and Hovell Walking Track which you can trek parts of the track. This drive is suitable for 4WD only. The entry into Landers Creek Falls is a short 15-minute drive from us here at Pether Cottage. This is a fairly decent walk so we definitely recommend setting aside a few hours for this one. The falls are a 10 km return walk from the 2WD car park. Or a 1.6 km return walk from the 4WD car park (closed in winter) along the Cumberland trail. This is a great place for photos. At the end of the trail you’ll have views that stretch across the escarpment and plunging into the valley below. As well as the clear blue Talbingo Reservoir. At the Talbingo Lookout, you’ll get a great view of Landers Creek Falls emerging from the cliff. There are some other fantastic walks and places to visit in the area. Some of our favourites (apart from those we’ve mentioned) include Coolamine Homestead accessed off Long Plain Road along the Blue Waterholes Fire Trail; Blue Waterholes Campground; Clarke Gorge Walking Track; Nichols Gorge Walking Track; and the Kiandra Heritage Track.

Talbingo Accommodation: Fishing and Water Sports – If you feel like taking a break from all the walking and hiking in the area, fishing, water sports and swimming are popular with many tourists and locals. You can fish all year round for rainbow trout, brown trout and redfin in Lakes Talbingo, Blowering and Tantangara. While Murray Cod is often caught in Blowering Dam. Fishing supplies can be hired from goPlayoutside, or purchased at the service station and supermarket. With so many waterways available for use, you can water ski, sail, canoe, kayak and swim on Talbingo and Blowering Lakes during the warmer weather. There are also many local creeks and swimming holes around including Jounama Creek.

At just 215 km north east of Sydney, getting to Condo 105 @ Horizons Resort for your holiday is as easy as flying into Newcastle or Sydney airport and hiring a car. The drive from Sydney to Condo 105 takes you past some lovely towns and spots including Ettalong Beach, Umina Beach, Berowra, and Ku-Rin-Gai Chase National Park.

Salamander Bay short term accommodation is central to all Surf and Bay Beaches in Port Stephens – Nelson Bay is just a 7km drive to the east, and is the main town of the Port Stephens region. The calm beaches of the bay are perfect for families to relax, while the coastal beaches as great for surfing and body boarding. Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay are home to some of the best beaches in the Port Stephens area. There are over 20 beaches including sheltered bays and open ocean beaches which gives you plenty of option for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, surfing and walking. If you enjoy diving and snorkelling, the tiny promontory of Fly Point is an aquatic reserve. Also Broughton Island where you’ll find what local divers call “The Looking Glass”. A split that runs through the middle of the island and is alive with marine life. There are lot of places for snorkelling and diving for all experience levels. So you don’t need to worry about missing out.

Sand Dunes – In Nelson Bay you’ll also find the country’s largest coastal dune system. It stretches for more than 30 km to the northern reaches of Newcastle and to the Nelson Head Heritage Lighthouse.

Shoal Bay and Anna Bay – Another 2 km to the east, you’ll find Shoal Bay which is an excellent bush walking area. We recommend the walking tracks in Tomaree National Park, which is a 20 km strip between Shoal Bay and Anna Bay. Shoal bay is a great place to head out for a meal and the base for fishing trips and cruises around Port Stephens. Your Salamander Bay holiday rental is only a 15 minute drive (11 km) to Shoal Bay and an 8 minute drive (7.7 km) to Anna Bay.

Whale Watching and Dolphins – An absolute must-do while you’re staying at Condo 105 is to head out on a whale watching cruise. If you are staying during the season, Port Stephens region is on the annual migration track. You can see whales heading north in June and July. Then south again in September to November. The area is also home to large pods of dolphins that you can see from dolphin watch cruises. Or even while paddling around on a kayak in the bay. Another must do is swimming with the dolphins. There is only one wild dolphin swim permitted in NSW, and it is in the Port Stephens/Great Lakes Marine Park. The organisers will take you offshore on a 50-ft ocean catamaran. Where you will get the chance to swim with Short Beaked Common Dolphins and Oceanic Bottle Nosed Dolphins. This is an amazing experience not to be missed. Salamander Bay short stay rental is only a 10 minute drive (7 km) to Nelson Bay d’Albora Marina which is base for your whale and dolphin watching adventures.

Or spend the day on a quad or join a 4WD Safari Tour. If you are visiting us over a weekend, make sure you book yourself in for a camel ride on the beach. You can book in for an hour long sunset ride, which is a great way to finish off the day. After your camel ride, head back to Horizons Resort and sit back with a glass of wine watching the animals come out at dusk.

It offers coastal bush land, forests and over 20 km of rocky coastline and white sandy beaches. Keep your eyes open for outcrops of the acid volcanic rock, Rhyodacite. It’s a great place for a picnic or a walk. In safe conditions you can walk out to Fingal Island and the lighthouse.

Location
We have a lovely townhouse exclusively available for you. It is comprehensively equipped for eight, yet everything is so practical it makes the ideal lock up and go. Use it as a base to explore coral diving at Noosa fifteen minutes to the north, or shopping therapy at Maroochydore a similar distance to the south. Maroochydore is chock full of cinemas, fashion shops, department stores, and trendy bars and you should lack for nothing.

Beach and Mount Coolum
You will want to go down to the beach first thing in the morning, as the sun tiptoes above the horizon and bathes the water in a golden glow. Perhaps later in the day you might like to try a gentle forty-minute bush walk up the slopes of Mount Coolum National Park. The 360-degree view takes in the beach, the north and south coast, and the wilderness inland. Coolum truly has everything and we have the perfect place to stay.

Accommodation
Unlike purpose-build resorts that try to cram everything into the tiniest spaces, our accommodation at Growder Court began its life as a roomy family home in an upmarket condo. We offer a spacious main bedroom upstairs with private veranda facing south. Two further decent-sized rooms each sleeping three, plus a bright and airy bathroom. Just like you probably have at home.

Downstairs we have a generous lounge-cum-diner, a spacious kitchen, and a private laundry just for you. Linen is included.

Things to Do at your Coolum Beach holiday townhouse
Coolum Beach is a little piece of heaven for kids of every age, especially little ones. Australian Zoo is a short 45 minutes down the highway with learning adventures worthy of Crocodile Dundee. Come and meet the Irwins and enjoy one of the best animal experiences in Australia.

For now, we will just mention our 55-inch smart high-density television, not to mention our free Wi-Fi, Apple, Telstra TV, Netflix and Stan. We have ceiling fans all over the place that make holidaying in Coolum Beach a breeze. Fujitsu ducted air con for cooling and heating. Midland Haven is ideal stay for family and friends of patients from Regional WA that need a base while their loved one is in hospital, seeing specialists or testing or alternative medicines. The traditional owners of this region are the Noongar people. It was the fertile soil of the Swan Valley that led to the first European settlement at Guildford. Soon after the Swan River colony was established by Captain James Stirling in 1829. Blocks of land on both sides of the river were quickly assigned to eager settlers. When Guildford was surveyed at the end of 1829, 94 blocks were made available to soldiers, agriculturists, yeomen and servants released from their indentures. Captain Stirling set aside 4,000 cares for future ‘country retreat’. He named it ‘Woodbridge’ during his exploratory journey up the river in 1827.

Swan River – The Swan River quickly became the first highway through the region. Guildford developed into a busy and important river port and market town until the 1880s. Much of Guildford’s original town plan, including the central church square, subdivisions and general land use, remains as it was. Thus leaving a largely intact early 19th century English market town. A visit provides a rare glimpse into early colonial settlement. Along with many fine, well-preserved civic, commercial and private buildings dating from the 1840s to the 1920s and 1930s.

Kalamunda town centre and surround region is particularly appealing with character eateries. A quaint village feel, arts and galleries and walking trails. The township offers a large and diverse range of local artists and galleries. This includes Kalamunda Open Studios, Hayward Studio and Kalamunda Modern. As well as several heritage building sites in town. A visit to the town library will reward you with views of the largest community-built stained-glass window in Australia. Visit Zig Zag Cultural Centre at the Perth Hills Visitor Centre. Learn more about the history, culture and attractions of the area. Checkout what’s on at the Zig Zag Gallery. They show a number of exhibitions throughout the year, including painting, photography sculpture and textiles.

Manilla has basic shopping facilities including a small IGA supermarket. The local RSL and Bowls Club is an easy 700 metre walk, where you can grab a bite to eat at the Lotus Flower Restaurant, a Chinese Australian restaurant. We also recommend visiting the Big Fish for an amazing thick shake.Located on Fossickers Way, 45 km north-west of Tamworth, Manilla is famous for its fishing and paragliding opportunities. Manilla is a peaceful 30-minute drive from Tamworth, through the small township of Attunga. Based on the town’s doorstep is the Attunga State Forest – 874 hectares of bush surrounds with picnic spots and walking trails. This is a great way to spend the day or to stop in on your way to Tamworth.

Paragliding
The town is home to one of Australia’s premier X-C soaring sites and is one of the best sky sport sites in the world for hang-gliding, paragliding and soaring – if you’re visiting in February and March, you will often see hang-gliders and paragliders competing in World Championship competitions. If you head up onto Mt Borah during the competitions, you can watch the gliders competing. Interested in learning how to hang-glide or paraglide? The flying school in the Manilla District can offer tandem flights for adventurous tourists and locals.

Mount Borah is only a 27 minute drive (18 km) from your Manilla holiday rental.

Nature
If nature is your cup of tea, head out for a walk along the Manilla, Namoi and MacDonald Rivers and keep an eye out for the elusive platypus, which can often be seen near the river banks. Warrabah National Park is also a bush walker’s paradise. This inland river park offers bush walking tracks. While the rapids in the river provide an enjoyable challenge for experienced canoeists. For the photographer, the Namoi River provides beautiful scenery. The huge granite boulders sitting high above the valley’s pools offer great photo opportunities.

Fishing
There are some great fishing destinations in and around Manilla. The Manilla and Namoi Rivers are a great place to catch Murray Cod, while Split Rock Reservoir and Lake Keepit are well stocked and regularly replenished with Golden and Silver Perch. There are some lovely towns and sights to visit around the Manilla area including Tamworth, Barraba, Lake Keepit and Split Rock Dam.

Tamworth is the Australian country music capital and home to the largest country music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. Don’t be fooled though, there is much more to the city than country music. If you take a trip into Tamworth, make sure you take a visit to the local art galleries, museums and of course, the Golden Guitar.

Local museums and exhibits include the Walk a Country Mile interpretive exhibit, the Australian Country Music Foundation Museum and the Gallery of Stars Wax Museum. Bicentennial Park is where you’ll find bronze busts of country music legends. Additionally there is the Galaxy of Stars, where top artists are honoured with a star in the footpath.

Tamworth is only a 35 minute drive (45 km) from your Manilla short stay rental accommodation.

Barraba- Things to See and Do Around Barraba plus Map

Barraba is a true hidden gem of the New England North West region. You can bush walk or 4WD along the Barraba Track, through rugged rainforest and spectacular mountain scenery to arrive at the summit of the 1510 metre high Mount Kaputar, an extinct volcano. Horton Falls is also a must visit, with waterfalls cascading 83 metres to the valley floor. You can also drive the Horton Valley via the Bereen Mountain for outstanding views over the valley. The Barraba region is home to the endangered Boronia ruppii, a rare plant species found only in the district. As well as some of the most westerly Remnant Rainforest in NSW. The town is a popular bird watching region. There are 14 signposted Bird Routes in the area. Over 190 species of birds have been seen in the Barraba region. The endangered Regent Honeyeater the most sought after sighting of bird watchers. Barraba is only a 33 minute drive (47 km) from your Manilla short term accommodation.

Lake Keepit State Park

is a great family day out with BBQ and picnic facilities as well as bush walking along the Namoi River and water sport facilities. If you feel like fishing you’ll find Hook Silver and Golden Perch (Yellow Belly), Murray Cod and Catfish. During Spring and Summer, the lake is great for boating, sailing, swimming, water skiing and wind surfing. The area is home to over 170 species of birds including the Australian King Parrot. A walk along any of the tracks will give you glimpses into the life of the Australian native bush. Lake Keepit is just a half an hour drive from your Manilla Accommodation NSW and a great way to unwind and relax.

Split Rock Dam
It is a 20 minute drive north of Manilla Cottage to Split Rock Dam, which is popular for boating and fishing. You can expect to catch species such as Golden Perch, Black Bream, Jew Fish and the prized Murray Cod. To fish you need an inland fishing license. The park is accessible all year around. Manilla is a lovely country town where you can meander through the local village. Explore the local area or sit on the front porch. Spend your time reading and drinking coffee while soaking up the sun. It’s a rare place where you can do as little or as much as you want. Above all there is no-one to interrupt you.
